Emergency Preparedness Week

         May 1 - 7, 2022

Emergency Preparedness: Be Ready for Anything

Whether natural or human-induced, disasters are well beyond our control and often come unexpectedly, bringing with them a vital need for emergency preparedness. Beaver Emergency Services Commission would like to encourage the residents of our region to participate in Emergency Preparedness Week and becoming better prepared to expect the unexpected.

Emergency Preparedness Week (May 1-7, 2022) encourages Canadians to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies. Emergency Preparedness Week is a national combined effort of provincial and territorial emergency management organizations and Public Safety Canada. We encourage everyone to visit to learn more of our role in emergency response within the Beaver County region.

By taking a few simple steps, you can become better prepared to face a range of emergencies.

It is important to:

  • Know the risks – Although the consequences of disasters can be similar, knowing the risks specific to our community and our region can help you better prepare.
  • Make a plan – It will help you and your family know what to do in the event of an emrgency
  • Get an emergency kit – During an emergency, we will all need some basic supplies. We may need to get by without utilities. Be prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours in an emergency.

Visit for more resources to help you and your family prepare for all types of emergencies.

Experience has shown that individual preparedness goes a long way, during and after a major disaster, in helping both the community members and emergency response teams in coping with the pressures that these situations bring with them. Prepare for emergencies by getting an emergency kit now  - it can make a world of difference.
